I removed the iat electric modification, so it sends the correct sensored temperature. I installed a second iat sensor in the airbox cover(wich has a cold air feed from the left side airintake, removed the trompet so the diameter is 65mm. Stuffed the second airhose).
When not insulated the air temperature measured was about 35C when idle (ambiant air about 8C). After insluting the iat sensor and wires, the temperature went down to about 19C, and when accelarating full throtle it went down to 14C. The car feels very responsive when hitting the gas.
I also checked what measurements i would get when reconnecting to the original iat (also with cold air feed 8C). When idle it got up to 55C. I also messured the iat sensor itself (with a IR temperature remote sensor). The sensor and plenum where also 55C, and accalerating full throttle it slowly went down to 30C and when lifting the gass, the reading went op to 55C. I see that the plenum is from aluminium and is bolted on the hot engine. So the heat is easely transfering to the plenum. And the iat sensor is screwed in to the plenum so it gets a lot of heat. I think the air rushing through is not the same temprature as the plenum and iat it self but much cooler. So i must conclude that the reading is to high when the engine and plenum is hot.
The car felt not so responsive any more.
After repositioning the iat to the airboxcover, and insulating the sensor so the heat of the enginebay is not infuancing the air measurement, the car stay's responsive even after 1 hour driving. I did not have any pinging. I was not expecting that because the iat reading is not that low, and still hoter then the air going into the manifold.
